Product handling

G & P Products emphasizes correct handling when cleaning safety products. Certain chemicals should never be used when washing our garments.

01

Proper maintenance of flame-resistant garments

Many of today’s FR fabrics can be washed at home. They can also be industrially laundered or professionally dry cleaned. Regardless of the method, never use chlorine bleach or chlorinated detergents.

  • Wash with mild detergents at temperatures no higher than 140°F.
  • Dry at 120°F or below.

02

Damaging chemicals

Chlorine bleach affects color and negatively alters the protective properties of both inherent and treated FR fabrics. Avoid starch, fabric softeners, and antistatic dryer sheets. With repeated washings, residue can form a microscopic coating that interferes with thermal performance. Soap can also leave a film.
